Scrapbook Sunday

Just some recent inspiration of mine....
..and a quick couple of points:
Celebrities get paid to go to shows (thanks to the engligh rose for pointing this out) I'm actually shocked.
Back to school tomorrow after exams, this is good but also means back to uniforms, lessons and homework, I'm trying to decide what's worse.

Sketch Saturdays-Utility and Aviator

Today i drew two outfits, one was more inspired by the jackets that Burberry Prorsum showed in London last week- I am LOVING the aviator look especially huge shearling collars- and the other was a mix of Utility, Caroline Blomst and these shorts I saw a while ago in a picture on Garance Dore.

Facial Friday- Products

I try not too use too many different things on my face, I once read something by Bobbi Brown that dissuaded me, and the things I do use I try to make sure that they don't clash too much as this can result in combination skin.
Products I <3 :
Neutrogena Visibly Clear toner, make-up remover, cleanser and moisturiser for face,
Nivea Soft moisturiser for body,
Rimmel Matte Finish powder,
Max Factor concealer,
Max Factor False Lash Effect mascara,
Maybelline twist kohl
Bourjeois eyeshadows
Natural Collection blush and clear mascara (for brows).

I also love Rimmel's eyeshadow gel pots because they double up as great liquid/gel eyeliners with the right brushes, and my friend Anna (she's like a make-up geek) tells me that Lancome does the best mascara, Urdan Decay is good for primers, Mac and Nars do great colour ranges for everything and she shops at them the most, also Benefit does a good selection of highlighters and blushes-she recommends 10 for an easy contouring kit.

Phew! got this posted about 20 mins before midnight so it's still officially Friday. My exams have finished today so my posts are going to be getting a little longer (hopefully) and I'll try to get more pictures up from now on... But right now I'm going to sleep as I have to get up in 7 hours to go to work.

Thrifty Thursday- Shirts

I'm one of those people who love wearing big shirts with leggings or over dresses. I know it's like lazy and that not a lot of people like it/do it but I happen to like the silhouette it makes. My favourite place for getting the (apart from my dad's wardrobe) is Repsycho. It's an awesome vintage shop on my main road, and it stocks clothes from like the1930s+. I love it and I try to shop there a lot but it's pretty expensive for someone on my budget and so the main things I can buy there are like shirts and jumpers etc..
This is my favourite shirt from there

sorry for the length of the post today-geography and french exams tomorrow make for a shite evening..

Wishlist Wednesday- Topshop

Ok so this is how it's gonna go down, I'm going to focus on ONE shop and pick out my top 10 outfits, order them and (depending on how much work/revision i SHOULD be doing) an explain.. today it's TOPSHOP's turn...

These shorts are an easy way to access the utilitarian look that's everywhere at the moment and they would make an oufit look effortless and I think that if it doesn't look effortless, it doesn't look right.

A girl can never have too many dresses-they're like diamonds, a girl's best friend- and this one has great zip detailing which toughens it up just the right amount.

Bralets or whatever you feel like calling them (it's been a topic of serious debate between me and my friends) are a way of sexing up a tee or look great under sheer blouses.

This floral playsuit will just be perfect for summer and the length is really good- not too short (I've tried it on a couple of times, I admit it...)
This checked skirt just reminds me of early Vivienne Westwood and there can never ever ever be anything wrong with that.

Trend Tuesday- Lace and Leather

I adore the whole lace and leather thing going on at the moment. It's the perfect mix of masculine and feminine when done well. Even a little bit of this juxtaposition can really change and update an outfit. I have so many clothes that I love that fit this theme so I'm going to limit myself and only put 10 up here. I realise most of these are the typical black but I actually really love the coloured leather that's around at the moment- especially the pastel leather jackets I've been seeing on people. I just wish I had a huuuuge budget so i could buy all the things I wanted. Thrift stores can be a good alternative to highstreet shops for leather jackets etc. they're not as good for lace though because over time it can get ripped and damaged pretty easily.

Lace top by UO, boots by Topshop, jacket by Miss Selfridge, lace trousers and sweater by UO, lace culottes by Topshop, leather skirt Renewal by UO and the rest by Topshop

Model Monday- Karlie Kloss

I lovelovelove this girl- I first noticed her in British Vogue in November 2008 when she was shot for an editorial called All Night Long by Terry Richardson (I still have 2 of these photos cut out on my wall at home even though it was over a year ago, that's how much I loved the shoot.) She reappeared in February 2009 for New Frontiers (British Vogue), after this I researched her and she became one of my 5 favourite models (kicking Jourdan Dunn off the list) especially once I'd seen a video of her in Sonia Rykiel talking french.
First discovered in a charity mall fashion show raising money for her friend with cancer in 2003, Karlie shot to fame due to her dancer's walk (she has studied ballet since she was 10) and stunning features. She has been photographed like evveerrryywhere and i would say most designers have used her for a show or campaign at some point.
Extra info: she has a puppy named joey, she is 5'11'', born in Illinois, according to wiki she likes baking cookies (not too sure about this she is a model afterall..that figure doesn't get there by itself!), she speaks french and has great style.

First Post!

Hi, my name is Caity and today is my first day in the blogosphere. I'm excited to have a new blog and share my feelings about the fashion scene with everyone out there. My blog is going to be based around the days of the week- Model Mondays, Trend Tuesdays, Wishlist Wednesdays, Thrifty Thursdays, Facial Fridays, Sketch Saturdays and Scrapbook Sundays (Sundays may also be Shopping Sundays).

Just to clarify Facial Fridays are going to be about makeup and home beauty remedies. The others are pretty straight-forward.

Things you should know about me..
1) I'm quite camera shy so there probably won't be a lot of pictures of me.
2) I read a tonne of blogs every day. My favourite are Garance Dore, The Sartorialist, Fashion Toast, Stylebubble, StockholmStreetStyle, Sea of Shoes and Lungfuls.
3) I'm open to most styles of clothing but I CANNOT HACK Uggs, cheap jeggings, long skirts on anypone but models and bell sleeves.
4) I'm not rich- this blog is going to be mainly focused on the highstreet unless it's Wishlist Wednesdays because a girl can dream...
5) I don't have a lot of friends who are in the industry so (unfortunately) I'm not going to be going to lots of fashion parties or fashion shows.

I hope you enjoy my blog!
